The path is famously difficult. Have a look at the Shiny Objects blog and you will get a good idea of the transformations of attitude which must take place before transformations of consciousness are likely. Each person has their own motivation for taking the path, and each person has to transcend that motivation at some point in order to make real progress.
My motivation was all about the provision of security and safety. As soon as reincarnation became an established belief, energy was expended in trying to disprove the old adage “you can’t take it with you.” Surely when the end of the path is reached, safety and security is assured for eternity, and all other problems solved as well?
Well, it doesn’t seem so far as if it’s working out that way. In fact what seems to happen is that all the problems and responsibilities of life demand as much attention as before, but it becomes easier to see what problems require that attention, and what are to be left alone.
Unfortunately – from some perspectives – it becomes clearer that actually there are other, further responsibilities, previously out of awareness. And they seem to progressively demand more attention and time.
However, detachment from results or otherwise is now seen as a blessing.
