The Random Cats photo Corvus puts up always makes me smile.
Cats seem to be a more popular pet with spiritual people than dogs (and ducks lol), and I wonder if it might be to do with the journey the human species is itself making from pack-hunting animal to unique individual.
Our reactions to photos of impossibly cute pets are in some part anthropomorphic, by which I mean that we are to some degree imagining the pet has the same thoughts, feelings and motivations as us. Observant readers will notice that I have done exactly the same thing above.
Making assumptions like that about animals can make us smile, and occasionally get us eaten. However we also act in the same way with other human beings. Not only does that always cause problems, arguments and misunderstandings aplenty, it is a very difficult habit to get out of.
Many spend a lifetime lurching from one hurt to another, feeling misunderstood and unappreciated, having given what they truly believed to be a treasured gift to a loved one, and unable to take in that what the loved person actually wants is quite different.
